Customers and fans of Purlin' J's yarntruck can now shop for yarn anytime inside Kingston's Stitch By Stitch quilt store
Kingston's mobile yarntruck, Purlin' J's Roving Yarn Co. now has a "shop within a shop" inside the long-established quilt shop, Stitch By Stitch, at 550 Days Road (at Golden Mile).
The bright red yarntruck has been on the road since 2013. Purlin' J's Roving Yarn Co. was named one of the "Top Ten Most Remarkable Small Businesses in Canada" by The Globe and Mail's Report on Small Business in 2014. Now Purlin' J's occupies a small piece of brick-and-mortar, as well as the yarntruck, so that yarncrafters may shop for premium yarn whenever Stitch By Stitch is open.
Like the yarntruck, the selection inside is small, but Joan Sharpe, aka Purlin' J, is happy to be able to offer Purlin' J's most popular yarns outside of when the yarntruck is open for business, which is typically just a few days per month.
"Now Purlin' J's customers can stop in during regular retail hours* to purchase premium yarns", says Sharpe. "Fibre artists tend to be 'multi-craftual' so having yarn inside a quilt and fabric store means everyone wins!" Heather Dawson, one of three owners of Stitch By Stitch agrees: "The Purlin' J's brand is well-established in Kingston so it made sense to invite Purlin' J's to have a concession. Our customers are going to love this new shop within our shop!"
